St. Patrick was born, Maewyn Succat, in Roman Britain around the year 387 A.D. . The Romans ruled England at that time. Calpurnius, Patrick’s father, was a high Roman diplomat living in England, but a Roman citizen. This is, if you reach far enough, is why many Italians declare that St. Patrick was actually Italian.
